There have been many cases over the years that describe scenarios where people believe they have not only seen aliens, or met them, but have actually been abducted by them. Amazing as this sounds the sheer volume of information where numerous people from all around the world have experienced this phenomena means that it cannot be easily dismissed.
One of the most famous cases is that of Betty and Barney Hill
Back in 1961 Barney Hill worked for the US Postal Service and his wife Betty, 41, was a supervisor for a child welfare department. Barney had recently developed an ulcer and the couple decided to take a holiday to Canada. On their return from their trip they were travelling on a clear night though New Hampshire.
As they drove, Barney saw what appeared to be some sort of bright light in the sky that moved about erratically. Believing it to be a plane that was appearing and disappearing from view as trees obstructed their view they continued watching it as they continued their drive.
Finally Barney pulled over and used his binoculars to look at the object. He saw multi-coloured lights and rows of windows. And now the object seemed to be moving towards him. As it came within a hundred feet of him Barney could see occupants looking out through the windows. Frightened, he ran back to the car and they sped away.
Arriving home they went to bed but did not wake up until the following afternoon. Betty then called her sister and told her about the event. Her sister advised Betty to call the nearby Pease Air Force Base. In her conversation with an officer, Betty was told the object had been seen on their radar last night.
Soon Betty began to have nightmares of her and her husband being taken aboard a craft. On the suggestion of another Air Force officer, the Hills underwent regressive hypnosis in the hope they may find out what happened during those two hours.
The process was slow, but after six months, it was Dr. Simon’s expert opinion that the Hills had been abducted, and taken aboard an unknown flying craft on the night in question.
After the many sessions with Dr. Simon, the following details became evident. The Hills related that their car had stalled, and then the alien craft landed on the road in front of their vehicle, forming a kind of roadblock, hailing them down. They were taken into the craft, and given medical examinations by these aliens, and before being released, were ordered under hypnosis not to recount any of the details of their incident.
The entities were described as bald-headed alien beings, about five foot tall, with greyish skin, pear shaped heads and slanting cat-like eyes. This was the very first mention in UFO folklore of the so-called “Greys.” The Hills were taken into separate rooms during their examinations by the Greys. These “tests” involved both physical and mental procedures.
After these events, the Hills were taken back to their car, and the last thing they remembered was an orange glow disappearing into the night sky.
The two stories agreed in considerable detail, although neither Betty nor Barney was privy to what the other had said under hypnosis until much later. Dr Simon concluded that the Hills were not fabricating their story.
While on board the ship Betty was shown a star map which she could later describe under hypnosis. In her description she made mention of star clusters that would not be discovered until 1969.
So what happened to the Hill couple? They certainly believe that what they experienced actually occurred. Two stories that corroborate together under hypnosis is something that is hard to argue against. Did they do it for the attention? Another fact of the Hills is that they were an inter-racial couple (Betty was white, Barney an African-American) – in America in the 1960’s. They would hardly be wanting to draw any more attention to themselves than they no doubt already received.
To this day no one has been able to refute what they believe they saw. Their story remains the high standard for evidence of alien abductions
